1953. Charlie Halliday, a former WWII fighter pilot, is a Yellowknife-based bush pilot. Like many of the white in the area, he does not associate with the Inuit except for what he can get out of them in bartering. On a personal plane trip, he runs across a small family of nomadic Inuit. The female of the group, named Kanaalaq, has what Charlie suspects is tuberculosis. In exchange for some ivory, Charlie agrees to fly her to a hospital in Yellowknife. En route back to the city, Charlie is forced to make a crash landing when the plane develops mechanical problems. Although both Charlie and Kanaalaq are unharmed by the crash, the plane is totaled, they are in the middle of nowhere, the radio doesn't seem to be working, they have a meager amount of supplies, and Charlie's whereabouts are probably unknown to others since he made a detour from his original route. Furthermore, they can't communicate with each other as Kanaalaq only knows a few words of English, whereas Charlie knows no Inuktituk. According to his map, Charlie estimates it is one hundred miles to the closest town and decides to walk. He soon learns that he is not well equipped for outdoor life in the north, at least not as well equipped as Kanaalaq, who is in her element. He figures that things can only get worse for both him dealing with the elements and Kanaalaq suffering from her illness as the winter snows approach.

Centuries ago, in what would become the Canadian Arctic, Atuat is promised to the malevolent Oki, son of the leader of their tribe. But Atuat loves the good-natured Atanarjuat, who ultimately finds a way to marry her. Oki's sister, Puja also fancies Atanarjuat, and when she causes strife between him and his brother Amaqjuaq, Oki seizes the opportunity to wreak a terrible revenge on Atanarjuat.

«دنیای جدید» ترنس مالیک، سفری است به قلب تاریخ و طبیعت، روایتی که در آن برخورد دو فرهنگ، عشق ممنوعه و کشف سرزمینی ناشناخته در هم می‌آمیزد. مالیک به جای تمرکز بر خط داستانی کلاسیک، تصویری شاعرانه و حسی از وقایع ارائه می‌دهد. او با ظرافت، نگاهی به روح سرخپوستان وایمریکا و احساسات درونی جان اسمیت و پوکاهونتاس می‌اندازد. فیلمنامه، گرچه مینیمال به نظر می‌رسد، اما بار سنگین فضاسازی و انتقال مفاهیم را به دوش تصاویر و موسیقی می‌سپارد. این فیلم، داستانی درباره‌ی آغازهاست؛ آغاز یک ملت، آغاز یک عشق و آغاز درک متقابل (یا عدم درک) میان انسان‌ها و طبیعت.

«روح» (Soul)، ساخته‌ی استودیوی پیکسار، داستانی است درباره‌ی جو گاردنر، معلم موسیقی‌ای که زندگی‌اش آن‌طور که انتظار داشته پیش نرفته و رؤیای نوازندگی جاز در سر دارد. فیلم با یک حادثه‌ی ناگهانی، جو را به دنیایی دیگر می‌برد؛ جایی که قرار است به یک روح تازه متولد شده کمک کند تا «جرقه» یا «روح» زندگی‌اش را پیدا کند. این سفر غیرمنتظره، جو را وادار می‌کند تا معنای واقعی زندگی، هدف و لذت‌های کوچک آن را دوباره کشف کند. روایت فیلم با ظرافت بین دنیای مادی و دنیای معنوی در نوسان است و سوالاتی عمیق درباره‌ی چیستی «زندگی» مطرح می‌کند.

«کلوئی و تئو» داستانی را روایت می‌کند که از دل یخ‌های قطبی سر برمی‌آورد و قهرمانی از جنس دیگر را معرفی می‌کند. این فیلم در ظاهر یک کمدی-درام ساده به نظر می‌رسد، اما در لایه‌های عمیق‌تر خود، نقدی بر مصرف‌گرایی و بی‌توجهی انسان مدرن به محیط زیست را مطرح می‌کند. روایت فیلم، سفر مردی از جامعه‌ی بومی اینوئیت به نام تئو را دنبال می‌کند که برای نجات سرزمینش، سفری پرمخاطره به نیویورک را آغاز می‌کند. تقابل فرهنگ سنتی و کهن با زندگی ماشینی و پرهیاهوی شهری، بستری را برای طرح دغدغه‌های زیست‌محیطی فراهم می‌آورد و مخاطب را به تفکر وامی‌دارد.
