Norman J. Warren
بیوگرافی
Cult horror movie director 'Norman J. Warren' (qv) was born on June 25, 1942, in London, England. His fright features are distinguished by their cold, grim tones, modern-day settings (this was a radical departure from the period Gothic horror movies made by Hammer), young adult main characters and startling outbursts of hideously graphic violence.Warren suffered from polio as a child and hence has only one functioning arm. An avid film buff since he was a kid, he got his start working as a runner on _The Millionairess (1960)_ (qv) and handled assistant director chores on the feature _Trial and Error (1962)_ (qv). Norman made his debut as a filmmaker with the 15-minute short _Fragment (1965)_ (qv). Warren then directed the immensely successful softcore sex pictures _Her Private Hell (1968)_ (qv) and _Loving Feeling (1968)_ (qv). He next did the grisly devil-worship horror entry _Satan's Slave (1976)_ (qv) starring 'Michael Gough' (qv). This was followed by the nifty supernatural shocker _Terror (1978)_ (qv), the twisted sci-fi/horror item _Prey (1977)_ (qv), the smutty softcore sci-fi sex comedy romp _Spaced Out (1979)_ (qv) and the nasty sci-fi/horror _Alien (1979)_ (qv) cash-in _Inseminoid (1981)_ (qv). Warren took a break from the horror genre by directing the exciting spy action outing _Gunpowder (1986)_ (qv). His last feature to date was the dreary horror clunker _Bloody New Year (1987)_ (qv). He has gone on to direct music videos and educational shorts, worked as a cinematographer on the retrospective documentary shorts _Corridor Gossip (2007)_ (qv), _Haunted Memories (2007)_ (qv) and _Making Space (2007)_ (qv) and was interviewed in the documentary _Doing Rude Things (1995)_ (qv). 'Norman J. Warren' (qv) is a regular guest at Manchester's Festival of Fantastic Films.::woodyanders (qv's & corrections by A. Nonymous)
