'Mili Avital' (qv) began her career, at the age of 17, in 'Christopher Hampton' (qv)'s "Dangerous Liaisons", at the Cameri Theater of Tel Aviv. Among her Israeli films, she won the 1992 Israeli Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for _Over the Ocean (1991)_ (qv) (aka "Over the Ocean"). Arriving in New York in 1994, she was immediately cast as the female lead in 'Roland Emmerich' (qv)'s _Stargate (1994)_ (qv), for which she received a Sci-Fi Universe award. Her film work includes: _Dead Man (1995)_ (qv) ('Jim Jarmusch' (qv)), _Kissing a Fool (1998)_ (qv) ('Doug Ellin' (qv)), _Polish Wedding (1998)_ (qv), _Animals with the Tollkeeper (1998)_ (qv), _The Young Girl and the Monsoon (1999)_ (qv), _The Human Stain (2003)_ (qv) ('Robert Benton' (qv)), _When Do We Eat? (2005)_ (qv), _Colombian Love (2004)_ (qv) (aka "Columbian Love") (Israel), and _Noodle (2007)_ (qv) (Israel / China), for which she received the 2007 Israeli Critics' Circle Award for Best Actress, the Israeli Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, and Israel's Person of the Year nomination. Television: "Scheherazade" in the Emmy-nominated ABC miniseries, _Arabian Nights (2000)_ (qv), NBC miniseries, _Uprising (2001)_ (qv) ('Jon Avnet' (qv)), USA Network's _After the Storm (2001)_ (qv), _Damages (2007)_ (qv) (FX), _Hatufim (2009)_ (qv) (aka "Prisoners of War") (Keshet, Israel).
