Stanley J. Sandford, better known as "Tiny" Sandford, was born in Iowa, U.S.A in 1894. He went into films in 1910 for 'Mack Sennett' (qv) and joined 'Charles Chaplin' (qv) in 1916 appearing in _The Count (1916)_ (qv), _The Immigrant (1915)_ (qv), and _The Adventurer (1917)_ (qv). He later appeared in Chaplin's productions such as _The Gold Rush (1925)_ (qv), _The Circus (1928)_ (qv), _City Lights (1931)_ (qv), _Modern Times (1936)_ (qv), and _The Great Dictator (1940)_ (qv). But most of all he was best known for his films with Laurel & Hardy such as _The Second 100 Years (1927)_ (qv), _The Hoose-Gow (1929)_ (qv), _Pardon Us (1931)_ (qv), and _Our Relations (1936)_ (qv) to name a few. He was originally cast as the Sheriff in _Way Out West (1937)_ (qv), but was later replaced by 'Stanley Fields' (qv). Despite making some films for 'Edgar Kennedy' (qv) in 1940 he retired.His best-known role with Laurel & Hardy would've been _Big Business (1929)_ (qv), and with Charlie Chaplin, it would have to be _Modern Times (1936)_ (qv).::Daniel Dopierala, Melbourne Australia
