Anouk Aimée

The daughter of actress 'Geneviève Sorya' (qv), in 1948 she played the part of Juliette in _The Lovers of Verona (1949)_ (qv). During the 1950s and 1960s she made various films, including _Montparnasse 19 (1958)_ (qv) and _La Dolce Vita (1960)_ (qv), but only _Lola (1961)_ (qv) , 'Jacques Demy' (qv), and _A Man and a Woman (1966)_ (qv) 'Claude Lelouch' (qv) saw major success. With the latter she had, but did not use, the chance to establish herself in America. Therefore she was only participating in second-row productions in Europe and America.::Volker Boehm
