Jean-Pierre Mocky

As an actor he became popular as Albert de Morcerf in a version of _The Count of Monte Cristo (1954)_ (qv), fame and adulation followed with his Francois in _Head Against the Wall (1959)_ (qv). As a director he became famous with anarcho-pictures, brilliant cynic comedies. His preferred actors in all decades were 'Michel Serrault' (qv) and 'Jean Poiret' (qv) - till the late 80s they were his leading stars. When 'Jeanne Moreau' (qv) appeared in _Das Wunder des Papu (1987)_ (qv), many other leading French screen-stars followed.::Bio
