Kelly lives in Los Angeles with his wife Samantha and three daughters. He got his SAG card doing a Gillette commercial directed by 'Joe Pytka' (qv) Kelly began working with Mr. 'Sanford Meisner' (qv) in spring, 1992 and later was a Founding Member of the 'Sanford Meisner' (qv) Center for the Arts. He starred in several dozen plays and wrote/directed several others there (1995-2013). Notable turns: Kelly was cast by Oscar nominated writer/director 'Lynn Mamet' (qv) as the lead "Bobby Fry" in her world premiere of "The 'Job' (qv)". He was then cast by writer/director 'Larry Cohen' (qv) to play Charles Lindbergh in his world premiere of "Fallen Eagle" (from a screenplay he co-developed with 'Oliver Stone' (qv)). Kelly considered the 'Sanford Meisner' (qv) Center for the Arts as his home up until its closing in February of 2013. He continues to be an advocate for the Meisner Technique via Twitter @MeisnerActor where he posts first hand Meisner acting notes and photos. Mr. Nelson most recently portrayed Boaz in the sit com pilot "Thank You Come Again", written/directed by 'Chelsea Steiner' (qv) as well as a sweet cameo in 'David Collins' (qv)'s 2019 sit com pilot "To Die For". Kelly enjoys a good scotch, is an advocate for the Ruskin Group Theater, and can be caught singing Sinatra on Sunday nights in Hollywood. (when there's no covid) Kelly is proud to be developing a mini series "The Floating Church" based on his gg grandfather's life story.
