H.E. Bates

'H.E. Bates' (qv) was born on May 16, 1905 in Northamptonshire, England as Herbert Ernest Bates. He was a writer, known for _A Month by the Lake (1995)_ (qv), _Summertime (1955)_ (qv) and _The Purple Plain (1954)_ (qv). He was married to Marjorie Helen Cox.
