Catherine S. McMullen is a writer and film & TV professional.In 2017, Catherine was named on The Black List, The Hit List, The Young & Hungry List and The Blood List. She was also awarded the John Hinde Science-Fiction Award from the Australian Writers Guild for her original pilot 'Awake'. She recently wrote 'Wentworth VR', the official VR adaption of award-winning TV series 'Wentworth'.Previously, she was chosen by the International Emmys as the winner of the prestigious Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award, and included on the 2016 Inside Film List as one of the Australian screen industry's 'Rising Talents.'Catherine's work has been shortlisted for many other national and international awards. Her sci-fi thriller feature Driven was a Semifinalist in the 2016 Academy Nicholl Screenwriting 'Awards' (qv), a Finalist in the 2016 PAGE International Screenwriting 'Awards' (qv), and was also nominated for the Lorne Film Festival's $10,000 Screenwriting Award. Her sci-fi pilot Living Metal was a Finalist for the 2015 Monte Miller Award for "Best Unproduced Screenplay" from the Australian Writers' Guild, as well as others.Her fiction work has been published in Nightmare Magazine, Aurealis Magazine, Interzone, Dark Tales, and has been reprinted in anthologies such as Year's Best Australian Fantasy & Horror and Focus 2013: Highlights of Australian Short Fiction. Her short story 'The Nest' was nominated for an Australian Shadows Award from the Australian Horror Writers' Association. She was the youngest person to ever to sell a story to a professional science-fiction magazine, selling to Interzone at age 10.Catherine graduated in 2011 with a double degree in Arts/Law from the University of Melbourne, on a full Melbourne National Scholarship awarded to academic high achievers.::admin
