Eugene Jackson

'Eugene Jackson' (qv) gained fame as Farina's older brother, Pineapple, in six of 'Hal Roach' (qv)'s "Our Gang" serials - _The Mysterious Mystery! (1924)_ (qv), _The Big Town (1925)_ (qv), _Circus Fever (1925)_ (qv), _Dog Days (1925)_ (qv), _The Love Bug (1925)_ (qv), and _Shootin' Injuns (1925)_ (qv). Besides films he sang and danced on the vaudeville circuit - billed as "Hollywood's most famous colored kid star". Most of his film roles were bit parts, most uncredited. He did appear as Diahann Carroll's Uncle Lou on TV's _Julia (1968)_ (qv) and Redd Foxx's friend on _Sanford and Son (1972)_ (qv). In later years he taught dance at studios he started in Compton and Pasadena. He trained several performers in the film _Porgy and Bess (1959)_ (qv).
