Asaph Polonsky

'Asaph Polonsky' (qv) was born in 1983, in Washington D.C. but grew up in Israel. At the age of 25, he directed his first short, _Ritch-Ratch (2008)_ (qv), followed two years later by _In Bed at 10 PM (2010)_ (qv). The young man then enrolled in the American Film Institute film school, where he studied direction. His final-year student short, _Samnang (2013)_ (qv), about the experiences of a Cambodian immigrant in New York, was acclaimed at the New York Film Festival and later in several others. The same is true concerning his first feature, _One Week and a Day (2016)_ (qv), which was noticed for the young director's ability to deal with a serious subject (the death of a 25-year-old son) in a quirky tone (without falling into bad taste). The film garnered several awards in various film festivals, which augurs well for Asph Polonsky's future career.::Guy Bellinger
