Miranda Harcourt

Miranda is a director, teacher and coach.Her approach is based on years of writing and performing Verbatim theatre in prisons in New Zealand, Australia and the UK, as well as her work as an on-set acting coach with renowned actors and directors on films all over the world.Directors she has worked with include Jane Campion, Peter Jackson and Garth Davis. Actors include 'Nicole Kidman' (qv), Juliette Binoche, Dev Patel, Josh Hutcherson, Saoirse Ronan, Isabelle Fuhrman, AnnaSophia Robb, Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie and many others.For seven years Miranda was the Head of the Acting Department at Toi Whakaari - New Zealand Drama School. Miranda teaches at AFTRS and The Hub in Sydney, at The London Film School in the UK, at Toi Whakaari, The Actors' Program and Victoria University in NZ and by Skype with individual clients. In 2017 and 2018 she was invited to lead a masterclass with emerging talent at TIFF.Most recently Miranda coached Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA-award nominated and winning performances by actors in Garth Davis' Lion. She was the Background Action Director on Garth Davis' Mary Magdalene, starring Rooney Mara and Joachim Phoenix and co-directed NZ YA classic The Changeover with 'Stuart McKenzie' (qv), selected for film festivals including Rome, Sydney, Malmo and Neuchatel)Most recently Miranda continues to work with 'Nicole Kidman' (qv) on all her film and TV roles including THE UNDOING (Suzanne Bier) and NINE PERFECT STRANGERS (Jonathan Levine). UK and NZ/Australia directors Miranda has recently worked with include all the directors on the feature film VAI, with Rodd Rathgen/Sam Jennings on BUOYANCY, with Finola Dwyer/Gregor Jordan on DIRT MUSIC, with Mirrah Foulkes/Nash Edgerton on JUDY AND PUNCH, with Roseanne Liang/Tom Hern on SHADOW IN THE CLOUD, with Susan Parker/Linda Niccol on POPPY, with Gaysorn Thavat/Emma Slade on THE JUSTICE OF BUNNY KING and with James Kent on THE AFTERMATH. TV work include UK productions THIS COUNTRY, DEFENDING THE GUILTY, WHEN IT SHINES, Australian series THE UNLISTED and NZ series BAD SEED and THE DEADLANDS.In her work with actors Miranda works with spirit and craft to shift paradigms, empowering actors and directors to realize their own talent. She introduces simple but innovative ways of thinking about and achieving connection and character. She has developed a series of tools and exercises for use in rehearsal and on-set that get actors to where they need to be, fast.::MH
