Ioan Gruffudd

'Ioan Gruffudd' (qv) was born on October 6, 1973 in Cardiff, Wales, UK to educators Gillian (James) and Peter Gruffudd. He has a brother, Alun, who is two years younger and a sister, Siwan, who is seven years younger. He got his start at age 13 in the Welsh soap opera _Pobol y Cwm (1974)_ (qv). He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from 1992 to 1995, and was then cast as the title role of the television remake _Poldark (1996)_ (qv). After playing 'Oscar Wilde' (qv)'s lover John Gray in _Wilde (1997)_ (qv) and Fifth Officer Harold Lowe in _Titanic (1997)_ (qv), Gruffudd became a leading man in the Hornblower series of television movies between 1998 and 2003. He then played Pip in the big budget BBC production of _Great Expectations (1999)_ (qv). Other film roles include _102 Dalmatians (2000)_ (qv), _Black Hawk Down (2001)_ (qv), _King Arthur (2004)_ (qv), _Amazing Grace (2006)_ (qv), _Fantastic Four (2005)_ (qv) and _Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)_ (qv).He resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife Alice and their two daughters.::Denise Riley <dmriley7@yahoo.com
