Domiziano Arcangeli

Arcangeli was discovered in 1979 by photographer 'Helmut Newton' (qv) in Venice, Italy, where he used to live: some of the photographs made the covers of international magazines. Arcangeli became a fashion model during the 1980s, and he was called by 'Federico Fellini' (qv) at Cinecittà Studios in Rome for a screen test to play the young lead of a movie that eventually was unfortunately never made. However, the actor later worked in Fellini's _Intervista (1987)_ (qv), playing himself at the time of that first screen test. Arcangeli did make his acting debut in the Italian-Japanese film _Eden no sono (1980)_ (qv), and continued to appear in a number of films during the 1980s and 1990s, among them _The Good Soldier (1982)_ (qv) directed by 'Franco Brusati' (qv), _Ich glaube... (1983)_ (qv) directed in France by 'Jacques Deray' (qv), _Sodoma's Ghost (1988)_ (qv) directed by 'Lucio Fulci' (qv) and _Der Himmel ist fern (1988)_ (qv) directed by 'Nelo Risi' (qv). He appeared in the historical drama _Francesco (1989)_ (qv) directed by 'Liliana Cavani' (qv), starring 'Mickey Rourke' (qv), played in the well-received 'Tinto Brass' (qv) softcore comedy _Paprika (1991)_ (qv) and in the thriller _Dark Friday (1993)_ (qv) directed by 'Aldo Lado' (qv). At the same time the actor worked in several stage productions with directors such as 'Giuseppe Patroni Griffi' (qv), 'Luca Ronconi' (qv), 'Lev Dodin' (qv), 'Giancarlo Sepe' (qv), 'Jonathan Miller' (qv), and others.Throughout the 1990s, Arcangeli kept busy working in various films and television projects. He had starring roles in _Last Flight to Hell (1990)_ (qv), in _Ritual of Love (1989)_ (qv), in _Black Demons (1991)_ (qv) directed by 'Umberto Lenzi' (qv), _Belle da morire (1992)_ (qv), _L'urlo della verità (1992)_ (qv), directed by 'Stelvio Massi' (qv), _Albert Savarus (1993)_ (qv) based on a novel by 'Honoré de Balzac' (qv), _Estasi (1993)_ (qv), and _Intimes Geständnis (1996)_ (qv). He also played Helmut in the TV series _Le ragazze di Piazza di Spagna (1998)_ (qv) directed by 'José María Sánchez' (qv). He was cast in _Red Silk (1999)_ (qv) by 'Jess Franco' (qv), _Il conte di Melissa (2001)_ (qv), _Incubus (2002)_ (qv) and _The Water... the Fire (2003)_ (qv) directed in Luxembourg by 'Luciano Emmer' (qv). Arcangeli moved to the United States, where he already had citizenship, and was immediately cast as Popo in the Showtime/Viacom TV series 'Zalman King' (qv)'s _ChromiumBlue.com (2002)_ (qv), and then played darker or more complex roles, such as Carlton, his first American antagonist opposite actor 'Jeffrey Wright' (qv) in the thriller _Sin's Kitchen (2004)_ (qv) directed by 'Fabien Pruvot' (qv). Arcangeli has since worked in several other independent films: _Gameface (2007)_ (qv) directed by 'James Rhodimer' (qv), the thriller _The Seer (2007)_ (qv) directed by 'Luigi Desole' (qv), in 'Kurando Mitsutake' (qv)'s _Samurai Avenger: The Blind Wolf (2009)_ (qv). In 2009 Arcangeli founded his film production company Empire Films,inc., and he produced and starred in _House of Flesh Mannequins (2009)_ (qv) directed by 'Domiziano Cristopharo' (qv), _Virus X (2010)_ (qv), and _The Ghostmaker (2012)_ (qv) both released in the United States by Lions Gate Films through Grindstone Entertainment, but also executive produced the comedy _Scenes from a Gay Marriage (2012)_ (qv) in the same year.In 2013, along with his production company Empire Films' new business partner, 'Aaron Benore' (qv), and with 'Jake Barsha' (qv) of Right Hook Films, Arcangeli co-executive produced the TV miniseries _The Bathroom Diaries (2014)_ (qv) in which he plays Snake, and starred in the feature film _The Brides of Sodom (2013)_ (qv) directed by 'Creep Creepersin' (qv). He most recently appeared as Chaka in the second season of the TV series _Femme Fatales (2011)_ (qv), in 'Giorgio Serafini' (qv)'s crime thriller investigation _Ambushed (2013)_ (qv), in the futuristic thriller written and directed by 'Paul Hough' (qv), _The Human Race (2013)_ (qv), played the heavy Larry in Ivan Zuccon's psychological horror _Wrath of the Crows (2013)_ (qv), is to appear also in a drama directed by 'Everett Lewis' (qv), _Territory (2016)_ (qv), while there are a whole new slate of projects announced as completed, or in production by Empire Films, such as _Orgy of the Damned (2010)_ (qv), the art-house thriller _Travel Well, Kamikaze_ (qv) ready to be presented on the film festival circuit, but Empire Films (www.empirefilms.net) has also several other projects in active production with Arcangeli also set to star in a few.::'Aaron Benore' (qv)
