بیوگرافی

Australian-born Alf Goulding was a former vaudevillian who became a director specializing in comedy shorts. He directed 'Harold Lloyd' (qv) comedies for 'Hal Roach' (qv), and in the early 1920s joined 'Mack Sennett' (qv), then turned out two-reelers at RKO and Columbia, sometimes featuring 'Edgar Kennedy' (qv). In England after World War II, he directed a slew of "quota quickies", low-budget films made to fulfill a government requirement that a certain percentage of films shown in England be produced in England. He was a close friend of 'Stan Laurel' (qv), and directed one of Laurel and 'Oliver Hardy' (qv)'s best features, _A Chump at Oxford (1939)_ (qv).::A. Nonymous
