Gail Gilmore

A cute blonde with an unconventional personality, hence the name changes, Gail Gerber (a.k.a. 'Gail Gilmore' (qv), a.k.a. Gale Gerber, a.k.a. Gail Gibson) came to Hollywood in 1963 after a successful career as a ballet dancer and TV actress in Canada. Betweeen 1964 and 1965, she appeared in six movies leaving an indelible impression on fans of teenage drive-in movies. Gilmore co-starred with 'Elvis Presley' (qv) twice, playing a vacationing coed in _Girl Happy (1965)_ (qv) and a dancing gypsy in _Harum Scarum (1965)_ (qv). She then frolicked on the seashores of sunny Southern California in _The Girls on the Beach (1965)_ (qv) and _Beach Ball (1965)_ (qv) before growing to gigantic proportions along with five other delinquent teenagers who terrorize a town in _Village of the Giants (1965)_ (qv). Gilmore met writer 'Terry Southern' (qv) on the set of _The Loved One (1965)_ (qv) and abandoned Hollywood in 1966 to live with him in New York then Connecticut where she remained his longtime companion until his death thirty years later.::Tom Lisanti
