Delfine Paolini

بیوگرافی

Delfine Paolini is a New York-based writer and filmmaker. Part of the New York punk scene as a teenager, photographing live shows, Delfine met legendary photographer Mick Rock and gained the opportunity to become his assistant. This experience encouraged her to study visual arts as a means to accompany her writing with imagery. Her work was discovered and championed by famed William Morris agent (and former Vice President) Johnnie Planco, who represented her for several years before his passing. Planco, who represented such directors as John Cassavetes, Paul Schrader, and Robert Altman, was instrumental in guiding her as a filmmaker, and set her on a path toward becoming a director. Delfine's debut feature, "A Wonderful Way with Dragons," has won over 50 international awards. Lauded for her poetic, painterly language, on both page and screen, she was recently awarded the Tarkovski Grant. Delfine's work is often inspired by events from her own, unconventional life, portraying her family's struggle with schizophrenia and suicide. She has dedicated her career to exploring the contours of madness, investigating isolation as a liminal space-haunting, suspended, and unresolved.
