'Chord Melodic' (qv) is a British actor, known for _Happy Valley (2014)_ (qv), _Coronation Street (1960)_ (qv) and _Coming Up (2003)_ (qv). Born on November 27, 1986 in Manchester, England as Christopher Michael Hall, he is of English, Irish and West Indian (St Kitts and Nevis) ancestry.Melodic started acting at the age of 12 and was involved in numerous school productions. He had earlier learned to play the Violin at the age of 11 and later learned to play the drums at 13. Around the same time, he discovered songwriting and music production.In addition to acting and music, he became a professional footballer playing as a striker for Oldham Athletic. He was prolific at youth and reserve team levels, and thus made his debut for the club in 2003 at the age of 16, just four months after graduating from high school. This made him the second youngest player of all time to make their debut for the club at the time, after Wayne Harrison, the world's most expensive teenager, debuted at the age of 16 in 1985. After breaking his leg in 2007, he decided to retire from professional football to concentrate on his acting career.Chord's first paid acting role was in 2007 for Hope Theatre Company in Manchester. The play was OUT/LOUD, a ground-breaking verbatim play devised by Adam Zane that explores homophobia, bullying and hate crime. The play is based on interviews with young LGBT+ people. He played a number of parts throughout the plays tour.Chord's major television debut came in 2008 when he starred in the flagship children's drama _Grange Hill (1978)_ (qv). In the same year he also starred in hit British crime drama _Blue Murder (2003)_ (qv) opposite 'Holliday Grainger' (qv). He followed that up with numerous roles including BAFTA Award winning drama _Shameless (2004)_ (qv) and comedy drama Coming Up, opposite 'Debra Stephenson' (qv), 'Con O'Neill' (qv) and 'Jodie Comer' (qv). Melodic later starred in Sally Wainwright's BAFTA Award winning crime drama series Happy Valley opposite 'Sarah Lancashire' (qv).Additionally, following his starring role in _Holby City (1999)_ (qv) opposite 'Hugh Quarshie' (qv), he then starred in the world's longest-running soap opera Coronation Street as Joe Haslam, an ex-soldier and owner of a private military company , who helped to bring down super villain Pat Phelan.::AlbertAttwood
