Harriet Andersson

Discovered at age 20 by celebrated director 'Ingmar Bergman' (qv), she became part of Bergman's regular stable of performers; in fact, he wrote _Summer with Monika (1953)_ (qv) especially for her breakthrough. Extraordinary and versatile as an actress, her roles have ranged from the naive young wife in _Sawdust and Tinsel (1953)_ (qv) to the mad visionary in _Through a Glass Darkly (1961)_ (qv). Andersson also appeared in _Fanny and Alexander (1982)_ (qv), Bergman's last film. After that she has appeared in a number of feature films and TV series in Sweden.
