Frank Dietz

Inspired at age 6 by a viewing of _Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948)_ (qv), 'Frank Dietz' (qv) has found success in the film industry as a writer, producer, director, actor and animator. Frank grew up on Long Island, N.Y, and then attended the State University at Oswego, where he majored in theatre and art. He starred in a series of now-cult low-budget horror films like _Zombie Nightmare (1987)_ (qv) , _Im Angesicht der Hölle (1987)_ (qv) , _Black Roses (1988)_ (qv) and _The Jitters (1989)_ (qv) . Bitten by the film bug, Frank then moved to Los Angeles, where his screenwriting career began. He wrote the scripts for many independent features, including _Naked Souls (1996)_ (qv) , _Cold Harvest (1999)_ (qv) and the _Magic in the Mirror (1996)_ (qv) series. In 1996, Frank returned to his artistic roots and joined Walt Disney Studios as an animation artist. His work can be seen in such films as _Hercules (1997)_ (qv) , _Mulan (1998)_ (qv) , _Tarzan (1999)_ (qv) , _Fantasia 2000 (1999)_ (qv) ,_Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)_ (qv) , _Treasure Planet (2002)_ (qv) and _Home on the Range (2004)_ (qv) . During this period Frank created the Sketchy Things series of classic monster sketchbooks, which became extremely popular with genre fans. In 2007 and 2008, Frank was awarded the very first Rondo Hatton Classic Horror 'Awards' (qv) for "Artist Of The Year." In 2009 he joined Larry Blamire's Bantam Street troupe, and appeared in _The Lost Skeleton Returns Again (2009)_ (qv) and _Dark and Stormy Night (2009)_ (qv) , which was produced by 'Trish Geiger' (qv). In 2011, Frank and Trish teamed up to create Benevolent Monster Productions. Their first project as co-directors and producers was _Beast Wishes (2012)_ (qv) - The Fantastic World of Bob and Kathy Burns. That documentary went on to win multiple awards, including the Rondo Hatton Award for "Best Documentary." The following year they produced a comedy short called _A Zombie Next Door (2014)_ (qv) . They recently finished a documentary about the legacy of King Kong, entitled _Long Live the King (2016)_ (qv) , which has already won some "Best Documentary" awards. The film stars 'Tom Everett Scott' (qv), 'Marisa Tomei' (qv), 'Tituss Burgess' (qv), 'Rhea Seehorn' (qv), 'Rachel Boston' (qv), 'Julie Ann Emery' (qv) and 'Arden Myrin' (qv). In 2020 Frank joined the _Creepshow (2019)_ (qv) television series as a writer for season 2.::Sketchy Things, Inc.
