Frederick De Cordova

Educated at Northwestern University, 'Frederick De Cordova' (qv) began his show business career on the stage, and came to Hollywood in the mid-'40s as a dialogue director. He graduated to director in 1945. He spent much of his career at Universal Pictures, where he turned out medium-budget westerns, comedies and musicals. In the mid-'50s he turned his main focus to television, directing and producing _The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show (1950)_ (qv), _The Jack Benny Program (1950)_ (qv) and _December Bride (1954)_ (qv). Although he directed an occasional feature, he was much more successful on TV, and in 1971 became executive producer of the long-running late-night talk show _The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962)_ (qv).::frankfob2@yahoo.com
