Nastassja Kinski

'Nastassja Kinski' (qv) was born Nastassja Aglaia Nakszynski on January 24, 1961 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of German actor 'Klaus Kinski' (qv). In 1976, she met director 'Roman Polanski' (qv), who urged her to study method acting with 'Lee Strasberg' (qv) in the United States. Kinski starred in the Italian romantic drama _Stay as You Are (1978)_ (qv) with 'Marcello Mastroianni' (qv), gaining her recognition in the United States after the film's release on December 21, 1979. She played the title character in Polanski's romantic drama _Tess (1979)_ (qv), an adaptation of 'Thomas Hardy' (qv)'s novel "Tess of the d'Urbervilles" (1891).Kinski starred in 'Francis Ford Coppola' (qv)'s romantic musical _One from the Heart (1981)_ (qv), her first film made in the United States. The film became a box office bomb and was a major loss for Coppola's production company Zoetrope Studios. She also starred in the erotic horror movie _Cat People (1982)_ (qv) with 'Malcolm McDowell' (qv), a remake of the 1942 classic of the same name. She appeared in 'Wim Wenders' (qv)' drama movie _Paris, Texas (1984)_ (qv) with 'Harry Dean Stanton' (qv) and 'Dean Stockwell' (qv). One of her most acclaimed films, the film won the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the Cannes Film Festival.During the 1990s, Kinski appeared in a number of American films, including the action movie _Terminal Velocity (1994)_ (qv) opposite 'Charlie Sheen' (qv), _One Night Stand (1997)_ (qv), _Your Friends and Neighbors (1998)_ (qv), 'John Landis' (qv)' _Susan's Plan (1998)_ (qv), and _The Lost Son (1999)_ (qv).
