Julian Sands

Tall, gaunt, and particularly effective in horror and drama films, British actor 'Julian Sands' (qv) was born in Otley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, to Brenda and William Sands. He came to the attention of NBC when the network cast him in the TV miniseries _The Sun Also Rises (1984)_ (qv) and then with 'Anthony Hopkins' (qv) in the television film _A Married Man (1983)_ (qv). Sands also got noticed for his very small roles in _Privates on Parade (1983)_ (qv) and _The Killing Fields (1984)_ (qv). It wasn't until his funny and romantic role opposite 'Denholm Elliott' (qv) in _A Room with a View (1985)_ (qv) and then his unusual role in _Gothic (1986)_ (qv) that audiences noticed him and were fascinated with his good looks and unusual but sometimes chilling appearance. He continued work on screen in _Vibes (1988)_ (qv), _Impromptu (1991)_ (qv) and 'Steven Spielberg' (qv)'s _Arachnophobia (1990)_ (qv), until his most remembered role as _Warlock (1989)_ (qv), directed by 'Steve Miner' (qv). The film was such a major success that he returned for the terrifying sequel, _Warlock: The Armageddon (1993)_ (qv). His other credits include _Naked Lunch (1991)_ (qv), _Tale of a Vampire (1992)_ (qv) and the title role in 'Dario Argento' (qv)'s _The Phantom of the Opera (1998)_ (qv). Sands has more recently been in 'Stephen King' (qv)'s _Rose Red (2002)_ (qv) and is also occasionally seen on the English stage.::Blythe379@cs.com
