Mark Hampton

'Mark Hampton' (qv) is an actor and filmmaker known for his award-winning performances in _Town vs. Gown (2015)_ (qv) and _Acceptance (2020)_ (qv).Born in New Zealand, Mark moved to the UK as a teenager and made his big-screen debut opposite Academy Award winner 'F. Murray Abraham' (qv) in _Una vacanza all'inferno (1997)_ (qv) an Italian co-production also starring 'Marco Leonardi' (qv). He then played American heart-throb Brad in the TV series _Comin' Atcha! (1999)_ (qv). He went on to appear in a number of classic British television series, including detective drama _Jonathan Creek (1997)_ (qv), long-running children's show _Grange Hill (1978)_ (qv) and medical drama _Casualty (1986)_ (qv). He also had guest roles in _Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003)_ (qv) and filmed a role in _World War Z (2013)_ (qv) which was sadly cut from the final edit after extensive re-shoots.During a break from acting for family reasons, Mark became an award-winning filmmaker in both comedy and drama. In 2010 his comedy remake _Top Gun in 60 Seconds (2010)_ (qv) won an Empire Award, having been a finalist the two previous years. His first dramatic short film starred veteran British actor 'Richard Heffer' (qv) taking a haunting journey to the past.In 2015 Mark wrote, directed and starred in _Town vs. Gown (2015)_ (qv), a boxing film set in his hometown of Cambridge. The film premiered in the US at Academy Award qualifying the Rhode Island International Film Festival and in the UK at the BAFTA qualifying British Urban Film Festival. Mark won several awards and _Town vs. Gown (2015)_ (qv) was nominated for Best Short Film at the Empire 'Awards' (qv) 2017.In 2020 Mark wrote, directed and starred in political drama _Acceptance (2020)_ (qv). His central performance as a US Congressman earned him several Best Actor awards.On returning to acting in 2020 Mark was signed to IDSA Talent and appeared in _Liaison_ (qv) for AppleTV, pandemic drama _This Sceptred Isle (2022)_ (qv) and horror anthology _Midnight Peepshow (2022)_ (qv).::Anonymous
