An icon of hip-hop culture and a pivotal part of the MTV 'News' (qv) team, 'Sway' (qv) Calloway has been a staple within music-news for more than a decade. Already a vanguard radio personality, record producer and hip-hop artist, 'Sway' (qv) joined the MTV 'News' (qv) team in 2000 and has been front and center for some of music's biggest moments.'Sway' (qv) first caught the public's eye when he and his partner King Tech staged break dancing and rap performances in and around their hometown of Oakland, California. Recognizing 'Sway' (qv)'s instincts for great sound and promising talent, Interscope enlisted him and Tech to produce an album called This or That, featuring artists such as Eminem, KRS-One and RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan.He is the key correspondent for MTV's Choose or Lose campaign and newly launched Power of '12 campaign for the channel. Since his involvement, he has interviewed various political leaders like Republican National Committee Chair Ed Gillespie, Hillary Clinton, Ron Paul, John McCain and Mitch Romney. The 2008 presidential campaign presented stellar opportunities for 'Sway' (qv). Throughout the course of the campaign, he sat down with President Barak Obama four times. In 2012, 'Sway' (qv) and MTV captured another memorable moment with President Obama that garnered millions of watchers.'Sway' (qv)'s other MTV 'News' (qv) endeavors have included the "All Eyes" series which featured top artists like Kanye West and 50 Cent, "MTV 'News' (qv) Now: Jay-Z vs. Nas: Beats, Battles & Beef," "MTV 'News' (qv) Presents: After the Storm" and the highly anticipated yearly Hottest MC's list.'Sway' (qv) is an integral part of MTV 'News' (qv)' annual live-event coverage of the MTV Video Music 'Awards' (qv), Grammy pre-show and the European Music 'Awards' (qv) (EMA). 'Sway' (qv) also serves as an MTV Executive Producer and brings new programming ideas to the station.
