'Esther Garrel' (qv) is a French actress known for her work in 'Luca Guadagnino' (qv)'s _Call Me by Your Name (2017)_ (qv) and _Lover for a Day (2017)_ (qv), which premiered at 2017 Cannes Film Festival.She is the youngest member of a family long associated with French cinema, as she is granddaughter of actor 'Maurice Garrel' (qv), daughter of director 'Philippe Garrel' (qv) and actress/director 'Brigitte Sy' (qv) and sister of actor 'Louis Garrel' (qv).Esther made her first appearance on screen at the age of eight in a short film by 'Gérard Courant' (qv) (_Zanzibar à Saint-Sulpice (1999)_ (qv)).In 2008, French filmmaker 'Christophe Honoré' (qv) cast her with her first role in "_The Beautiful Person (2008)_ (qv)," a modernized adaptation of "La Princesse de Clèves".She starred in "The Apollonide," where she played a prostitute, and "_17 Mädchen (2011)_ (qv)," where she played a pregnant teenager, both premiered at 2011 Cannes Film Festival.With some of the top French actors of her generation, she starred in the short film "_Après Suzanne (2016)_ (qv)", selected for Official competition at 2016 Cannes Film Festival.She recently worked with American filmmaker 'Nathan Silver' (qv) on "_Thirst Street (2017)_ (qv)," which premiered at 2017 Tribeca Film Festival and Venice International Film Festival and The Great Pretender which premiered at 2018 Tribeca Film Festival.She speaks French, English and Italian.::Anonymous
