Adrienne Jo Barbeau is an American actress and author best known for her roles on the TV series _Maude (1972)_ (qv) and in horror films, especially those directed by 'John Carpenter' (qv), with whom she was once married. She was born on June 11, 1945 in Sacramento, California, the daughter of an executive for Mobil Oil. Early on in her career, she starred in _Someone's Watching Me! (1978)_ (qv), _The Fog (1980)_ (qv), and _Escape from New York (1981)_ (qv), all 'John Carpenter' (qv)-related projects. She has collaborated with 'George A. Romero' (qv) on occasion, such as the 'Stephen King' (qv)-scripted _Creepshow (1982)_ (qv) and _Two Evil Eyes (1990)_ (qv). Her work with other horror directors includes the 'Wes Craven' (qv) comic book monster movie _Swamp Thing (1982)_ (qv). During the 1990s, she became best known for providing the voice of Catwoman on _Batman: The Animated Series (1992)_ (qv). She was the original Rizzo in the first Broadway production of Grease. She is the author of a memoir There Are Worse Things I can do and a comedy romance vampire series Vampires of Hollywood, Love Bites, Make Me Dead.::Matt Lee-Williams
