Elected to BAFTA in 2002, 'David Bowles' (qv) is an established and versatile British actor with a substantial international portfolio. Recognized for his strong leading character portrayals. he has worked across UK, Europe, USA, and recently attached on multi-million dollar American 'superhero' epic _Axa_ (qv) (currently targeted for 2023/2024).Notable projects to date include _Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)_ (qv) with 'Kevin Costner' (qv) & 'Morgan Freeman' (qv); headlining with Oliver Reed in the Greek classic _Orpheus & Eurydice (2000)_ (qv); and Olympiad _448 BC: Olympiad of Ancient Hellas (2004)_ (qv) co-starring with Roy Dotrice and Brian Blessed. He is also known for his earlier work with legendary German screen icon 'Maria Schell' (qv) in the sequel to unique Mediterranean TV series 'Occupation' starring Kurt Jurgens and Klaus Kinski.'Awards' (qv): _The Gathering (2004)_ (qv) (Royal Television Society 'Awards' (qv)); action-adventure _Web of Deceit (2007)_ (qv) aka 'Gunner' (Cannes Film Festival).Born in Bolton (England), he first appeared on the 'silver screen' in TV favorites such as 'Eastenders', 'The Bill', 'Coronation Street', 'Poirot' etc; together with several other pivotal roles including 'Elron' (magical King of the Elves); 'Thor' (Viking Warrior) for Thames TV; and as 'Morgar' in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves for Warners. After a brief period at RADA in 1990s, his travels took him across Europe, Asia, Africa, Russia, and on to America, where he spent whatever time he could at the famed Stella Adler Academy in Hollywood and other popular local theatrical venues to help develop his craft. On returning to UK further appearances followed in projects such as Director Ian Madden's _Missing (2006)_ (qv); 'Rebus' _Rebus: The Falls (2006)_ (qv) (with 'Natalie Dormer' (qv)); and Carnaby Film's quirky comedy _Lighthouse Hill (2004)_ (qv) with Frank Finlay and UK comedy icons Maureen Lipman and John Sessions. Thereafter his popularity has continued to grow and expand on both sides of 'the pond'.As for theatre his early stage credits list "Canterbury Tales" (The Miller), "As You Like It" (Jacques), "A Man For All Seasons" (Lord Chapuys).
